|
I'm havin' a problem since weeks ago.
When the users who are connected to my CGI Chat close their web browsers or something like that, they get still connected on the channel and on the IRC network.
They just hang in there.
Is there any way to solve that problem?
I would like that when my users disconnect from the CGI chat or simply close their web browsers, they won't get still connected on my IRC network.
I'd really really appreciate a soon response regardin' to my request.
Have a pretty good one.
Take care of yourself.
Bye.
Best regards, Ivan Lizarraga.

|
I am reading this page ¤http://cvs.cgiirc.org/wiki?p=StreamProblems Trying to figure out how to fix this problem. Unfortunately, nothing on this page makes any sense :(
First it says: "The main script is a nph (non-parsed header) script, some web servers (notably Cobalt Raqs, older versions of lighttpd and early versions of Apache 2) don't support these, however this is easily worked around, simply rename nph-irc.cgi to something like main.cgi and update script_nph in cgiirc.config." Okay, I entertained this. But all this says to do is rename nph-irc.cgi to main.cgi, then replace what already said nph-irc.cgi with main.cgi in the config. Is this seriously telling me to rename the file to fix the problem? If so, why was the file improperly named to begin with? I don't understand this solution at all, unless it is improperly worded. Please advise. Following the directions as written provided no improvement, as expected. "To exclude CGI:IRC from mod_gzip use: mod_gzip_item_exclude file nph-.*\.cgi$ " Okay, Great! Another option. Use? How? Where? do I type that in nph-irc.cgi? Do I create a new file for this? Where do I type this? Thanks!

|
Hi!
I'm hosting cgiirc on strato webspace. When i open the irc.cgi, the browser shows me the content of the irc.cgi as plain text. (Maybe the provider doesn't parse cgi-files) By renaming the cgi files to .pl and changing the filenames in the cgiirc.config, the login form and after that also the chat window loads without problems. The client also enters the chatroom (i'm seeing this on another computer) but doesn't load the nicks in the browser. When i try to chat, it says "Not connected to IRC!". I think the problems are caused by the renaming. Is it very complex (or even possible?) to convert the whole script so that is it working with the renamed pl files? Thank you for your effort, with kind regards, Robin Schultz PS: And sorry for my bad english!

Popular IRC clients like mIRC, HydraIRC and XChat have added support for irc:// links.
Clicking on one of those links will fire up their irc client and connect to the specified network/server and channel.
Format of irc:// links is like this: irc://<server>/<channel without prefixed #>.
The added patch makes a tiny change in nph-irc.cgi to support these kind of urls.

Hello, dgl! First, thanks for your really unique project, you're doing a really great work.
I'm frequently getting errors on connecting to server with message "Error: Communication socket already exists" and after that all stops. Sometimes it says "Error: Mkdir failed". Also there's A LOT of temp directories in /tmp/ with name cgiirc-*. If I remove them then some time all works ok, but a few days later all errors came back :(. I understand that there are kept kinda sessions about open sockets, the question is should cgiirc delete them by itself or should I just place in cron something like 'rm -rf /tmp/cgiirc-*'? Is it safe? Is the bug in them? Some info: gentoo ~ # uname -a Linux gentoo 2.6.15-gentoo-r1
My irc server is UnrealIRCD-3.2.3. I managed to set up cgi irc on my linux box (running linux 2.4.17 on a 266MHz PPC) and all is working well when using client-perl.cgi !
But when i use the c based client (gcc -o client.cgi client.c) compiled with gcc 3.4.4, i got a problem : main windows connects to server and open channel, but a windows opens up with this adress : ¤http://192.168.1.4/cgiirc/irc.cgi?nick=rootaaa&interface=mozilla&R=o0f7say41aqb&item=fwindowlist&style=default (192.168.1.4 is my server ip) and it gives a "500 - Internal Server Error".
Each time i try to send a text or i click "close", "options" or "help", i got a new windows with 500 - Internal error an the action is not done :(
What i found : - if i enter the address without '&style=default' at the end of the line, i got a page with action icons. - client.cgi & client-perl.cgi do not give the same output : [root@KURO-BOX:/www/cgiirc]$\ ./client.cgi Content-type: text/html An error occurred: No input found [root@KURO-BOX:/www/cgiirc]$\ ./client-perl.cgi Content-type: text/html An error occurred: Invalid random value [root@KURO-BOX:/www/cgiirc]$\

if i connect to several channels in irc.ogamenet.net it causes an error.
A channel that greater than 20 people is a little problem for cgiirc. all inputs and receives aren't show effects. the first 10 seconds its work nice, after 10 sec. it doesn't work.
i have succsessfully tried connecting a bnc. but thats the same problem. short time after connect i cant send/receive messages. in small channels are no problems. best regards alex

IE Timeout
I've been running previous versions for years on ¤http://chat.snyggast.se but I've gotten myself into trouble with 0.5.7, <iframe src="$config->{script_nph}?$string" id="iframe" width="1" height="1" style="display:none;" onreadystatechange="if(this.readyState=='complete')disconnected()"></iframe>
Returns complete in the middle of the session, very early (~1min) This affects only IE and only ~10-20% of the clients, with no connection what so ever. It's russian roulete... I have tried everything I can think of but I can't seem to get IE to not time out, and since it happens to only 20% it is hard to test. I tried lowering keepalive to 11 instead of 15, with some results, but I don't think that is the main problem. I also tried adding JS call instead of <!-- Nothing comment --> in an attempt to force it to keep it alive, but with little or no progress. I'm stuck here and I aint making any real progress either... I think it is a timeout problem due to:
CGI:IRC quits with default quitmessage since do_quit is called I was curious, would it be possible to make so that when it returns "complete" (unless CGI:IRC actually quits) it refreshes the iframe with a restart parameter so nph-irc starts streaming from the point it was, the same socket and all? And yet again, thank you for a great client. Regards, Niklas Bivald

2005-Dec-12 20:48:55 by anonymous: I just can't get any order in this... I can't even se the system of the disconnects. I've spend hours just trying to figure it out, but I am not getting any closer. This is what I've come up with so far:
So basically the http stream ends (or ie thinks it it finished to early, or it is finished to early) but nph-irc.cgi continues This suggests that there is something wrong with the stream, or that something is just really messed up. I just can't understand how this can happen to both servers are the same time. They are running perl 5.8 and apache 2.0.51 / Apache/2.0.55 Both have been running cgiirc 0.4 for years.. Anyone else having the same problems with 0.5.7? 2005-Dec-12 20:52:30 by anonymous: Typo, the servers have been running 0.5.3 2005-Dec-12 21:39:44 by anonymous: I will change apache on all server, perhaps 0.5.7 is incompatible with .5.5 and/or .5.1... Evidently the servers crashed due to a power failure this thursday, this somehow messed up the apache installed. Hi guys,
I experience problems on re-connects, our pages host the chat in a i-frame and can be changed quickly, this means the chat loads / unloads frequently.
What happends is after the 3 or 4 load / unload I get a disconnect, the msg = "irc close" from the irc_close() function in nph-irc.cgi. I managed to narrow it down and it looks like the connect is delayed or to fast what causes the "sysread" in the main_loop to return empty. Furthermore, the biggest problem is it takes a bout 60 seconds to cool down before you can asteblish a new connect to the irc server. I thought at first it had to do with throtteling or something else on the server side, but I compaired it in later sessions with an other irc client and the server in debug mode and this does not look like to be the case. We run a site where you can see webcam girls and we had already had several complaints about it. It took me some time to reproduce the errors but i finially managed a way to reproduce them easely. Help is really appreciated here because it is of great importance to us. Please don't hasitate to contact me. Thanx in advance, kc

While using the web based chat client at ¤http://www.polarhome.com/cgi-bin/chat/irc.cgi, I noticed that joining a channel with a '+' in the name would fail to be able to speak in them. For example, I joined #25+Flirts, and while it joined fine, displays people talking, etc, any attempts to send text to the channel got sent instead to "
#25
Flirts", and resulted in a ircd error "
#25
: No such nick/channel".
It would appear that the javascript portion of the web page is failing to properly escape/encode the '+' character, and only in channel names. Sending a '+' in the text works fine. So far, I've been able to work around the problem by using the "interface=nonjs" CGI parameter, but the nonjs interface is kinna clunky to work with ;-)

Can't use swedish charset in channels when using CGI:IRC, they get converted to some weird stuff.
It seems to work OK in CGI:IRC 0.5.4 which we used earlier. I've updated perl and the Encode module, but the result is still there. I even set the charset in cgiirc.config, without any result. :/
{quote: Example: Client joins channel #Malmv (this shows in the "Status" window) *** WebChat215 [www@FQ-EA782F1.skbbip.com] has joined #malmCƒBƒC‚B6 *** @WebChat215 *** Channel created on Thu Apr 14 23:50:38 2005 Besides "Status", I've got a bar called "#malmCƒBƒC‚B6". } This results in channels rendered useless with CGI:IRC.

| the hexadecimal encoded view of the IP address (depending on the encode_ip setting) will make it impossible for certain IPs to connect to an unreal ircd if you have the encoding ip enabled and the IP is used in the username. ircu only allows a single group of digits. | |||||||||||
|
2005-Feb-03 19:05:45 by dgl: Yes, no other standard sort of IP encoding will fit in the 9 characters allowed in a username, it's not that difficult to disable the feature. (BTW: don't confuse Unreal and ircu, they are different). 2005-Jul-04 00:29:25 by anonymous: Problematic Username on IRCU (Undernet, QuakeNet) IRCU has very specific requirements for the username portion of the hostmask. This is a quote from the s_user module:
/*
* Summary of rules now implemented in this patch: Ensor 11-94
* In a mixed-case name, if first char is upper, one more upper may
* appear anywhere. (A mixed-case name *must* have an upper first
* char, and may have one other upper.)
* A third upper may appear if all 3 appear at the beginning of the
* name, separated only by "others" (-/_/.).
* A single group of digits is allowed anywhere.
* Two groups of digits are allowed if at least one of the groups is
* at the beginning or the end.
* Only one '-', '_', or '.' is allowed (or two, if not consecutive).
* But not as the first or last char.
* No other special characters are allowed.
* Name must contain at least one letter.
*/
The problem is that the hex encoded IP that CGI:IRC can use as the username doesn't match this pattern. A simple fix would be to use a shifted encoding scheme, eliminating all numbers, for example with
y/0-9/q-z/
in the nph-irc / encode_ip function.

Hello,
the patch attached implements the basic idea of Feature request 967285. It allows self-typed values also in the case that a list is given in the default_thing (except for the Format field, where this doesn't make sense). It works with and without javascript. As mentioned in Feature request 967285, a more generic approch would define some allow_self_thing option. Thus, this patch is meant as basic idea, not as a final thing. regards, Mario

2005-Jan-06 13:07:05 by dgl: I've combined Mario's patches from sourceforge and one sent privately into the one patch that is attached. I'm not too keen on the UI of displaying a select box and a text input field, I have an (old) patch which did it all in JavaScript which combined with the select+input approach would work nicely with and without JavaScript, I'll see if I can combine them.

(From sourceforge ticket 1076799)
All the connection details are passed though in the QUERY_STRING variable. Unfortunatly this gets logged in the apache logs. This patch modifies the two places where the details (including the server connect password) are passed in 'plain-text' as part of the query string. The replacement is a form with hidden fields, that are POST'ed to the destination iframe. This ensures that the apache logs do not contain the Nick or Password of the user. All Ops should expect to work hard and they must be able to get along with the channel owners. 2009-Oct-07 22:20:25 by anonymous: www.yerevan4u.ru 2010-Sep-04 08:03:43 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-04 08:04:48 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-04 08:05:39 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-04 08:06:11 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-04 08:06:45 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-04 08:07:14 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-04 08:07:39 by anonymous: mPLLNd <a href="http://shbdpuqrslqn.com/">shbdpuqrslqn</a>, spbagzvqjqpv, [link=http://qwjljfdirnkx.com/]qwjljfdirnkx[/link], ¤http://nggzysjliehu.com/ 2010-Sep-09 07:05:18 by anonymous: gzbrqzyu ¤http://kxnmkcvw.com ynsfuyvc yuqwfjfz xvaqapsy <a href="http://ysmnsfzg.com">picyqfgj</a> 2010-Sep-09 07:05:20 by anonymous: gzbrqzyu ¤http://kxnmkcvw.com ynsfuyvc yuqwfjfz xvaqapsy <a href="http://ysmnsfzg.com">picyqfgj</a> 2010-Sep-09 07:05:22 by anonymous: <a href="http://iaufjngl.com">pwtouuqm</a> befjvnmf zhrguvdn ¤http://nbbvrtkj.com jbtdsuga nlefhxqc 2010-Sep-09 07:05:23 by anonymous: <a href="http://iaufjngl.com">pwtouuqm</a> befjvnmf zhrguvdn ¤http://nbbvrtkj.com jbtdsuga nlefhxqc 2010-Sep-09 07:05:26 by anonymous: iyyiauva aowoxgpk ¤http://frzwkeci.com ctlsszhe toleyesc <a href="http://iyytcwns.com">wwhqichl</a> 2010-Sep-09 07:05:28 by anonymous: iyyiauva aowoxgpk ¤http://frzwkeci.com ctlsszhe toleyesc <a href="http://iyytcwns.com">wwhqichl</a>
